Cantus Planus 2020 / 2021 conference cancelled

Message from the President of the IMS Study Group, Prof. James Borders:

The IMS Study Group Cantus Planus announces the opening of online registration for the upcoming Cantus Planus 2021 Research Forum, an alternative to an in-person meeting this summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Forum will take place in real time on 28 July 2021 from 15:00 to 21:00 CE(S)T and will be organized and hosted by Hana Vlhová-Wörner (Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague).

The Forum will not comprise traditional papers and sessions, but is instead planned as a series of five-minute individual presentations and discussion items to update members about ongoing research and exchange ideas.

Organizers & Auspices

The objective of the IMS Study Group “Cantus Planus” is the advancement of research in fields relevant to the history and practice of liturgical plainchant as branches of learning and scholarship. In pursuing this objective, the study group encourages international cooperation and facilitates relations among researchers.

The meeting is organized by the Masaryk Institute and Archives of the Czech Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the Masaryk University Brno, the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the National Library of the Czech Republic and the Charles University in Prague.
